1.) Prime Your Eyes Using eye primer will not only extend the life of your eyeshadow, but will make the colors pop much more. Apply a thin layer of the paint before applying your eyeshadows and liners and your eye makeup will last all day. MAC has a veriety of products to use as a primer. Paint, Paint Pots Cream Colour Base, or even shade sticks! You can use differenent colored paints/sticks for different looks(like a darker color underneath a smokey eye), but a good neutral color is always good to have on hand.
2.)Eyebrows Are Important!
It’s very important to have nicely shaped eyebrows. I suggest a wax. It’s a good start to get a nice shape, and then you can maintain plucking from there if you wish. If you have long eyebrows like me, go ahead and get a brow brush (or a disposable mascara wand), brush them upwards, and cut them either with a pair of shears or small mustache shears. Just doing that will make a huge difference. Then fill them in with either a matching color liner or shadow. It’ll really open up your face!
3.)Get yourself a foundation brush, you won’t regret it.
Get rid of that spounge! A foundation brush will work so much better and makes the foundation go on a lot more evenly. If you think about it, when you use a sponge, most the foundation is being soaked up into the spounge instead of going on your face. Use downward strokes while applying with a brush so you don’t see the facial hair and fuzz that grows vertically on your face. MAC's 190 Foundation brush is of course great($32), but if you don't want to spend that much, Target's Sonia Kashuk line of brushes are pretty decent and at a great price($9.99)!
4.) How You Hold Your Brush Makes a Big Difference
Where you hold a brush on the handle affects your control. The closer your fingers are to the barrel (the silver section beneath the brush head), the more pressure you put on the brush head. To apply color evenly, place your fingers in the center of the brush handle. When applying blush and bronzer hold more towards the end of the brush.
